I receive Financial Aid. Can I use it for rent at Vi Hilbert Hall?

Yes! Vi Hilbert is a qualified housing option for Financial Aid. Please talk to your Financial Aid adviser on how to secure funding. We do utilize different portals, so talk to us about coordinating those payments!

If I live at Vi Hilbert, can I still use my Financial Aid to pay for campus meal plans?

Yes. Everyone living at Vi Hilbert can still have a campus meal plan and students can use their Financial Aid to pay for it. Sophomores are required to have a meal plan, but other upperclass students are not.

Can I tour Vi Hilbert Hall?

The best way to see the Vi Hilbert is via our virtual tours on the website! You can also call the office (206-939-5677) to find out about upcoming open houses or check availability.

I’m a Sophomore, can I live at Vi Hilbert?

Yes! Vi is open to Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, Law Students and Grads!

LEASING

What is/is not included in the rent?

Our units are fully furnished and that price includes all utilities and your own wifi access unique to your apartment!

How do I get on the Interest list?

What is the lease length?

Vi Hilbert leases run for a term of 12 months, starting in September and ending August 31 the following year (or from August to July for Law graduate students). Not around during the summer? No problem. You can sublet your apartment when you don’t need it. Check with the Vi leasing team for details.

Will I share one lease with all of my roommates?

While you might be sharing a bathroom, you won’t be sharing a lease. At the Vi Hilbert Hall you and each roommate will have their own lease.

Is there a deposit?

Yes, you must submit a Hold Deposit of $300 with your application to reserve your spot at Vi Hilbert and take it off the market. That Hold Deposit will become your Security Deposit when you sign your lease. As always, talk with the Vi HIlbert leasing team for more details.

Is there an application fee?

A small application fee is collected at the time of application. Check in with the Vi Hilbert leasing team for more details and to submit your application.

Is the deposit refundable?

Yes and no. In the event you change your mind or have to cancel, your Hold Deposit is non-refundable. Once you’ve signed your lease, your Security Deposit is fully refundable upon lease completion if you leave everything in good order.

What if my roommate causes damage? Am I still responsible?

Each Vi resident will be responsible for their own bedroom space. All apartment common areas (living room, kitchen, bathroom) will be the shared responsibility of all roommates.

Can I sub-lease my apartment?

Yes! If you find you aren’t going to be at the Vi Hilbert for a period of time, sub-lease options are available. Contact the Vi team if and when the need arises.

Can I rent a room in a multi-bedroom apartment even if I don’t have any roommates yet?

Yes! The leasing team will be pair you with new roommates and potential new friends.

Do I get to choose which apartment I want?

Apartment selection is based on timing and availability, please check with the leasing team for more information.

Are the units furnished or unfurnished?

Each apartment comes fully furnished with:

Bedrooms: XL twin bed (in most units), desk and chair, dresser, closet
1, 2, and 4-bedroom Common area: couch, sofa chair (in 4-bedrooms), coffee table, two stools for the kitchen island (in 2 and 4 bedrooms), and appliances! (stovetop, microwave, fridge, and dishwasher)

Can I bring my own furniture if I want?

Of course! Feel free to bring your favorite pillows, table, or whatever else you’d like to make Vi Hilbert your home. Just keep in mind you are responsible for breaking down, storing, and reassembling any furniture moved.

What kind of heat is in the units? What about ac?

Each room has individually controlled wall heaters so you can set the temperature to your own liking. There is no AC in the units.

What utilities will I have to pay for?

All utilities are included in your rent; including water, gas, electricity, and internet.

Is there free wi-fi throughout the building, including the apartments?

Yes! You have your own personal wifi in your apartment so you don’t have to worry about someone else in the building taking up bandwidth!

Does the entrance require card-access?

Yes! Once you move in, access will be added to your SU ID card to get into the building and up the elevators.

LIVING AT VI HILBERT HALL

Will there be Resident Advisors?

Yes, we have RAs living throughout the building!

Are the rules the same as all other residence halls on campus?

Yes and no. Vi supports the Seattle University Code of Conduct but varies from other SU residence halls. The Vi leasing team will make sure you are well informed when you move in.

Can I have pets?

If your pets live in water in little glass bowls, bring them! If your pet is anything else, unfortunately Vi Hilbert is unable to accommodate unless they are registered service animals. If that’s the case, reach out!

Are there restrictions on how many people can share one apartment?

The Vi team wants to make sure everyone has their own personal space, so it will be one person per bedroom in every apartment.

Can I have guests or friends spend the night?

Overnights are allowed, but we recommend you chat with your roommates first to make sure everyone is happy with the arrangements.

Will there be regular events and activities?

Of course! The Resident Advisor team will plan regular events and activities for Vi residents to enjoy.

Can I smoke in my apartment?

No smoking allowed at Vi Hilbert, but we’re close enough to the edge of campus that you can easily step out for a break!

Can I drink alcohol in my apartment? In the common spaces?

Per the Seattle University Code of Conduct, residents of the legal age to drink are allowed to have alcohol in their apartments. No alcohol is permitted in building common spaces.

Who will I call for maintenance?

If you are in need of maintenance, you will be able to contact the maintenance team through your resident portal after move-in.

Are there washers and dryers?

Yes! There’s a laundry room on each and every floor with multiple washers and dryers.

Is there parking?

No, there is no on-site parking at Vi. However, you do qualify for on campus parking! You can reach out to the SU Parking office for more information.

What about bike storage?

Absolutely. There’s a dedicated bike storage room in the garage for you to lock your bike up when you’re not riding around town. Reach out to the Vi team to get access on your card.
